Cable Release

[...] Whats a good cable release that would work both on M10 and M240?

I read somewhere that the threads have changed is it true?

I have lots of cable releases but no answer. If an answer can be found it should be FAQ.

Thanks for bringing it up!

I also used several cable releases and they worked in every camera (canon, nikon, and Leica) with the screw-in in the shutter-button. Prices ranged form 5 to 50 euros.

The digital Nikon and Canon camera's don't seem to have this feature anymore. All wireless/IR or USB remotes nowadays.

the old Leica one should be fine...

Albert  :)  :)  :)

I used several old Leica releases on the "old" Visoflex III. Since you had to apply some pressure to make the leaver go down on the release button, the textile cover of all of them broke after a while.

I found a Horseman cable release - it was even sold by a Leica Store! - which is much more rugged. Unfortunately it seems to be no longer available: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/91739-REG/Horseman_29542_Cable_Release_Large.html

Edit:the threads havn't changed. I can use old and new cable releases (if the don't brake...) with the M10 as well as for older Leica models.
