PJW351068 Posted August 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, and Girls, This maybe a newbie error but... I am trying to find out if the "Focus Peaking" facility on my M10 is supposed to work with the new M-Adapter. I have the EVF Viewfinder and have tried the adapter with all of my Leica M lenses but the focus peaking facility doesn't work. As soon as I take it off and just use the lenses without the adapter Focus Peaking comes back on. I have asked at two separate Leica stores and one of the assistants even got the shop M10 plus adapter plus the 90mm macro lens out and she couldn't get FP to work.. Does it work.?? Should it work.?? Is there a setting in the menu we have both missed?? Any help would be gratefully accepted. PJW
Advertisement Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Hi PJW351068, Take a look here M10 - M-Adapter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Joakim Posted August 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2017 And with M-adapter you mean the macro adapter right?
a.noctilux Posted August 11, 2017 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2017 In that case I push the front button to activate the "zoom in" focus aid. Check in the Menu if Focus Peaking is not OFF.
James S Posted August 11, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2017 My understanding is that focus peaking is triggered by the lens moving the rangefinder cam. Presumably the macro adapter isn't rangefinder coupled and so wouldn't move the cam, and therefore peaking isn't triggered automagically
Simon Posted August 11, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2017 With the macro adapter the depth of field can be so slim that focus peaking doesn’t show up much, if at all. But if you look for it it should still be there. Try to photograph some sharp edges in macro to check. I kind of expected to see a little more peaking as well. PJW if you are referring to the Macro M adapter, there is no focus peaking on mine either
Peter H Posted August 11, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't know whether this is helpful, but I use my 60mm Macro-Elmarit R on my M10 with a Novoflex R-M adapter. The camera recognises it as an R-M adapter and focus peaking works at the touch of the front button.
brill64 Posted August 11, 2017 Share #8 Posted August 11, 2017 With the macro adapter & visoflex fitted, try stopping down your lens to a small aperture like f8 or f16 & see if that works?
