The distance scale on my Q is not accurate. When focussed at Infinity, the Infinity symbol is centred at about f4 and the error is similar at 2m and 1m.

Do others have this experience?

The camera has been back to authorised service centre for dust removal and I hadn't noticed the error before that.

I should have explained better. The issue is with the manual focus.

When I focus through the evf to a subject at 2 m, the scale shows that it is focused between 2 m and infinity and the 2m mark is at the f4 mark not in the centre

The radial error is about the same at 1m and at infinity

It is fixed!  Sent the camera to the authorised repair with the explanation that I first noted the error after the sensor clean, and it was adjusted under warranty. Its now sufficiently accurate for zone focus and hyperfocal settings.

Oh and Thank You contributors for the feedback on both positive and negative experience.

Well thank you for alerting us to the issue. For my part I had never really thought about checking it as I just thought it would be OK. But as you discovered you cannot take things for granted.

Andrew42,

Thanks for enlightening us to the problem ... much appreciated.

I tested my Q2 and it was spot-on at 1m and 2 m. I didn’t evaluate at infinity since 1 m and 2 m were perfect.

The only thing I could add to the process is to be absolutely sure your distance calculations are exact. For example, measuring 1 m, be sure the camera sensor is exactly 1 m (3’ 3.3”) from the subject. NOT the front of the lens 1 m (3’ 3.3”) from the subject. The sensor on the Q2 is located just about at the front of the camera body. So, in the above example the distance from the front of the camera body to the subject should be 1 m (3’ 3.3”)

I used that same methodology for 2 m and it too was spot-on. Hope this helps everyone!
