SL with 20mm Nikkor 3.5 from the 1970's. I got this lens dirt cheap and quite like it, though wish the focus didn't turn the opposite direction to the rest of my lenses, which are all Leica.

I've been traveling with my SL and using it with a number of lenses. Among my favorites is the APO Macro-Elmarit-R 100 f2.8. Have shot a bunch with it this week and it happened to be on my camera when a couple of neighbors joined me for lunch. The contrast and sharpness of this lens is quite stunning - this shot taken through two panes of window glass. I considered opening the window, but I think my guests would have left in a hurry.

Rollei Planar 1,8/50 (Singapore), if a mid-1970s lens can be called "vintage".  Shot wide-open on SL, slight crop to 3x4.  Often compared with Carl Zeiss Planar 1,7/50 (Japan), a different formula.  I prefer the way the Rollei draws.

Before I started shooting with Leica R, I shot for 35 years with the Rollei SL-35 bodies and the German Zeiss lenses.  They were some very fine lenses.  I had the 25/2.8, 50/1.8, 135/4 and 200/4 and all stacked up quite well against a fellow camera club member shooting Leica M glass.  At times I wish I had saved those lenses after I wore out my two bodies.  They would be fun to try on today's digital cameras.

The Elmar 1:4 135mm is an interesting vintage lens. It is actually my best "very old" lens.

It is from 1962 and was produced with a silver coating - so it looks really old-fashioned. It is no tele construction, yet, but still quite small.

And it works very well with the SL.  It sports lanthan glass, which is a sort of predecessor to the apo lenses.

I totally agree on the 135 being an awesome lens. Picked one up really cheap years ago. Fantastic on the m9 and now that I acquired an sl it will shine again. And when keeping it on an m9 with leather case it looks like something from grandpa and people don’t try to rob you. I have taken several pictures with this lens that belong to my favorites, it has a, to my eyes, perfect rendering with both sharpness combined with an old time smoothness. It is very undervalued. Focusing takes a couple of laps from infinity to close but that gives exactness when needed. I would say that this lens is perfect for landscapes actually. I like it much more than my “perfect” summicron 90.... combined with a 35 summicron pre asph or summilux pre fle you have the perfect light weight travel kit. Lens is kind of long but very light weight. It is like an old 90 on extension rings.
