I don't see why this news would be that exciting unless you want to buy a Nikon.

i think it's extremely exciting. SL drops its price by two grand. Nikon announces a new high megabyte mirrorless camera with all the bells and whistles that your going to want............ how could you not be excited about that.

In my 30 years experience with Nikon they won't beat the lenses of Leica. So....Nikon....mirrorless.....yawn!

rubbish. There's a lot more to taking pictures than IQ alone. Ask @JeffS. He keeps shoving that down my throat all the time and he's a professional printer.

Neil

PA. I too have Nikon gear and in the write hands can produce amazing pictures........ I know as I've made them :)

Hahahaha I'm almost always amused by Neell's posts. They are full of humour and purposeful mistakes, grammatical and typing errors, if nothing else.

The marginal benefits of migrating to a new body are usually outweighed by necessity to change system or rely on adapters with varying success. Fine if you have a drawer full of old Nikon lenses ...... a bit of a pain if you don't.

I made the decision to stick with Leica some years ago ...... and have just changed bodies within the range to suit my current needs. I have far too much investment in Leica gear to justify moving to Nikon, Canon, Hasselblad or Fuji .... unless something appears that offers dramatic rather than small incremental improvements.

I think the tipping point has now been reached where mirrorless will eventually be the norm and DSLR is on the way out .....

Could be very good news for photographers. Nikon's professional offerings are usually pretty good and worth taking seriously.

You don't have to sell your Leica gear to find it interesting.
