Honest Review Of The M10

Nice and succinct. Thanks for sparing the drudgery of specs.

There's a better looking paperweight? I don't think so! :p

I hope your replacement proves to be the workhorse you need and that the ISO problem was an early mistake.

Thanks for the feedback! So far the dial has been working well. Fingers are crossed!

Snooze fest. Apart from abstaining from listing the specs the review is indistinguishable from the rest. I was expecting more. Talk more abstractly about how it was to shoot with the camera but you kind of hyped up the review in the preamble and didn't deliver in the text in my opinion.

Interesting feedback! I appreciate your candid review of my review however I have no interest in abstract talk about shooting with a camera. As I stated in the review, it is a tool. If you want someone to write a poem about the little stomach tickles they get when they head out with their shiny Leica... I'm not your guy. Sorry my intro got you so excited, I'll try to tone it down in the future.

Ps... Being a father of a one year old, I would love a festival of snoozing. So you're welcome for that.

Thanks for a thoughtful and informative review.  Good stuff.  I'm glad I've not had the ISO dial problem on either of my bodies, but I have shared your experience of the great image quality and dynamic range.

It's just one more review to pile on. All I'm saying is to claim an honest review is to differentiate from the field which you didn't do. I've read the same review a dozen times over the web. I'm encouraging you to write about the camera how your son or daughter looks at you or vice versa.

"My heart leapt as I reached for the sleek German camera, I trembled as my fingers touched the cool, black metal. Immediately, I felt the mass of solid perfection as I lifted the perfect optics to my eye. My subject gasped at the sight of the careful workmanship, the gleaming dot that exudes precision and quality. I felt the smoothness in the focus ring, fantasizing that I was deftly moving the precision ranging controls on a Uboat's attack periscope; a dashing, experienced captain refining his target solution with confident inputs, lining up the images and pressing the fire button.

Then I realized the lens cap had been left on, and the SD card was still in the laptop in my hotel in Vienna, where I used it to update the firmware last night, after too much wine and fine food, still safely lurking in the root directory, of course. My subject, an international longerie module, shifted her pose to accommodate a selfie with tourist holding a smartphone... "

Is that what you are looking for?

Did you contact Leica Camera Germany directly for the reason(s) behind the ISO dial malfunction? Just curious.

I did not but I believe someone did in the other thread titled something like "ISO stuck at 400". Leica NJ didn't say anything about it.

Hey guys (and gals), I finally got around to posting the M10 review on my site. Just wanted to share the link for anyone still waiting: http://photolisticlife.com/2017/07/03/a-street-photographers-review-of-the-leica-m10/

Thanks and enjoy the M10.

This is exactly the kind of review I want to read from a fellow photographer - how is the camera in practical use vs its predecessor and competitor offerings like Nikon? Very happy to hear the banding is gone until higher ISOs (I hate seeing at 3200 on my MP-240) and how the low light capabilities beat Nikon. Your post sounded a lot like a conversation with a friend over coffee - thanks for taking the time to write it.

Nice review. Just want to state one thing. Demonstrating that a camera performs excellent on 8000ISO with a capture that is equally lit and not really in the dark, which you seem to have done here, is not very convincing for its noise behavior. And this given the fact that the noise behavior of the M10 is very convincing, is a bit of a missed chance. A jazzclub with dark niches would have been more appropriate. Maybe something for your follow-up plans.
