Bokeh - Q Summilux vs. M Summilux

Recommended Posts

Well, what is the maximum aperture on the Q? And which Summilux did you compare it to?

Or did you compare them both at the same apertures?

Compared them both at f1.7

It seems that Q has a lot less depth of field...

That is strange. Can you post the photos? Mathematically the fall off of focus should be identical. But of course with some Nikon lenses having defocus-control, that is also a factor of the optical configuration of the lens elements.

Some say the Q lens is actually nearer to 25mm and then corrected (I have no idea if this is really true) so that may have something to do with it. Personally I love the way the Q renders wide-open and it gives me plenty of subject separation

does the Q actually work at f1.7 in closeups ? or switch to f3++ ? like the X113?

Seems like Q's depth of field blurs a lot less than a Summilux on the Ms. Have any of you compared the amount of background blurring on both lenses?

I would say, if there is one place where you may find this kind of comparison, it'd be DPReview?

At least, that's where I found an actual comparison between my gear and the Q when I had to make choices at the time...

Close ups (e.g minimum focus distance) work at 1.7, but if you switch to Macro mode the aperture is limited to f 2.8.
