Auto-focus Speed

Dear All,

can someone please confirm if, latest firmware installed :

1. the T is focussing as quickly as the TL ?

2. how the T matches up towards the X-Vario ?

As to the context :

I have a Vario and the hunting, especially in low light, is very annoying. I bought it used last year as an autofocus and zoom companion to my M9 and M6TTL, but somehow we do not bon. Somehow I also did not bond with the FujiX100s, or with the Ricoh GR2, or with the D-Lux109. All of those were sold again.

thank you

The T and TL focus identically. Both are significantly faster than the XVario. Startup times are also significantly shorter.

I upgraded to the T from an XV for the same reasons.

I recommend considering a used Leica T. You can use your lenses from the M9 and I think you will find the output to be superior to the X Varió since the T lacks an AA filter to improve resolution.

You may want to wait for the T's replacement that is expected shortly - although that's probably a much more expensive option.

Personally, I am delighted with my T and have little desire to upgrade. I would rather invest in Leica glass.

Of course, my opinion on upgrading may suddenly be changed if I am wowed by the new camera, but the T's AF speed is perfectly adequate for me. I don't rely as much on the eye level viewfinder with AF T lenses in any case.

T Af is faster than X-Vario but still slower than some of the other mirrorless competitors.

I think a big advantage over the X Vario is you can also put a fast 23 or 35mm lens on the T i dim light.

I like the T but try it before buying if you look for a fast camera.
