helged Posted August 10, 2017 Share #44 Â Posted August 10, 2017 Thank you for the info. But why do you say the 24mm S lens is 19mm on the SL? It is a 24mm, so it should give the field of view of 24mm on the SL and 19mm on the S. An S-lens with focal length of X mm has an equivalent focal length on the SL of X*0.8 mm. So the S-24mm on the SL is equivalent to 19 mm (on SL). Similarly, the S-70mm is a 50mm lens on the SL.
mmradman Posted August 10, 2017 Share #45 Â Posted August 10, 2017 An S-lens with focal length of X mm has an equivalent focal length on the SL of X*0.8 mm. So the S-24mm on the SL is equivalent to 19 mm (on SL). Similarly, the S-70mm is a 50mm lens on the SL. Probably we are saying the same thing (towards end of the day at office)...for S camera FL multiplier is 0.8x while for SL multiplier is 1x. Â So, any focal length on both S and SL will be the same only on a bigger sensor it will be equivalent of a wider lens on a camera with 1x multiplication. ArcherRoan Posted August 18, 2017 Share #46 Â Posted August 18, 2017 I have had great results using the 21mm Summilux lens with the SL while doing architectural interiors.
Jared Posted August 18, 2017 Share #47 Â Posted August 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) An S-lens with focal length of X mm has an equivalent focal length on the SL of X*0.8 mm. So the S-24mm on the SL is equivalent to 19 mm (on SL). Similarly, the S-70mm is a 50mm lens on the SL. I think you probably know this but may not be explaining it well. An S-24mm on the SL has the same field of view on the SL as the native 24-90 st at 24mm. It's still 24mm, after all. The focal length doesn't change just because you put it on a body with a different size sensor. An S lens of a given focal length, an M lens of the same focal length, an SL lens of the same focal length, and an R lens of the same focal length ALL have the same field of view when used on an SL. Â However, and I think this is what you were trying to point out with different words, that 24mm S lens when used on the S has the same field of view as a 19mm lens on the SL. You made it sound like an S lens and an SL lens of the same focal length would behave differently when used on the SL. They wouldn't.
