I search left and right before i ask this question. I get lost so hopefully someone here have an answer. :)

I have the Godox AD200 Pocket Flash. Which transmitter that i can buy in order for me to trigger that flash with my Leica SL? Is it even possible?

thanks

Won't that question be more determined by the flash unit than the SL? I mean, if you're looking for off camera flash, then the camera/flash interface becomes irrelevant since almost all cameras can operate a remote trigger. You just need to be able to plug the flash unit into the receiver. So for example, I have a Nissin flash for Nikon that I use with my SL via a Pocket Wizzard set up. The receiver plugs into the Nissin flash unit and the transmitter fits, via a universal attachment, to my SL. Obviously it;s all completely manual, no TTL flash.

I don't know that particular flash unit, but the two things you need to know about using the SL with flash are:

- it can only do a basic trigger of off-camera wireless flash. TTL is not available (Manual and Autothyristor should work, but you have to make the settings on the flash unit).

- Leica's hotshoe trigger contact is the same as Nikon's, so a wireless trigger that works with a Nikon camera should work with the SL (but, to repeat, only as a basic trigger).

I use a Pocketwizard MiniTT1 (Nikon compatible version), but there should be cheaper wireless triggers around.

I don't think this is true. There have been instances where the Nikon triggers cause the hotshoe to not let the SL fire at all, probably because the camera doesn't like the adaptor and shuts the shoe down. The most reliable triggers, by far, are single pin triggers like the older Godox 433mhz triggers. For manual flash you only need the centre pin and the earth. If I were using a Nikon type flash or trigger I'd most likely tape the pins.

Personally I think you need to email Godox or the importer and ask what to use for a non Canikony system. My guess is the X1 triggers should work but I'm still using the older ones with my Godox units.

I use the Elinchrom wireless remote with my Quadra and the Yongnuo flash trigger my my Yongnuo for Nikon (in trigger mode only) and both work perfectly well. Best regards,

I don't doubt you're right, but with Pocketwizards you only have a choice of 2 pin layouts, and I understand the Nikon versions work but the Canon ones do not.

I use a Elinchrom Skyport transmitter (it only has a center pin / contact) and it works fine on the SL and M-240's.  As noted above, it's just a wireless trigger.

I do as well. But I remember some issues with the Profoto B2's Nikon trigger and the SL.

I think the lesson is that single pin triggers are pretty much all OK but TTL triggers for other systems need to be tested on a case by case basis.

Seriously if someone offered a Leica firmware update to their Nikon triggers I think they'd do quite well. So far there seems to be only one that fully supports Leicas with HSS.

so i get my Elinchrom Skyport  speed  and pair it up with style RX 1200. Bam...it works.  THANKS guy.

My Godox AD200 Pocket Flash with godox x1-N will comes in later this week. I'll try to see if the X1-N will trigger the AD200 Pocket Flash. If it work, this will make my on location shot much easier since the AD200 so small that i can put it on my Jean pocket.

wowowo...i got it man..i'm so happy. I can finally use my SL for on-location shot now. I don't have to lug around the heavy Elinchrom/Profoto set. When flying to destination shot, i don't have to worry about packing/checking/carry anymore. Phewww...

So the godox XT32 with nikon mount (with one ground pin) will trigger the AD200 from the SL. No TTL. Fully manual.

I can use Profoto Air Sync on my SL for wireless trigger of any Profoto flash, I am using AcuteB2 600 AirS and B2; I can also use Broncolor RFS on my SL for wireless trigger of my Broncolor flashes, and I am using Scoro A4S and A2S.

However, both Profoto Air Sync and Broncolor RFS have no TTL function .............

good to know about the Profoto compatible. My goad is to reduce in size. I can have 2 AD200 and put it in the back jean pocket. It also reduce cost to hire assistant since i don't have to lug around the big batteries pack. :)

It seems a shame to me that companies like Godox, who started with non TTL now offer lees and less full manual options. The last thing I want in a portable lighting solution is TTL. Having a TTL solution is fine but most shooters I know who work with lights don't want/need TTL. They want a simple to use and reliable wireless trigger that can control their lights. And yet Godox don't seem to even offer a single pin trigger on their website.

I love my 360's. But what would I replace them with if they go south???

The Profoto Air remote (not the TTl-versions) also works fine with the SL.

I would never use TTL for remote flashes, so this is fine for me.
