Advertisement Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Hi Herr Barnack, Take a look here Leica Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH review. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michaelwj Posted April 20, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted April 20, 2017 I've heard it is quite different to the 50mm Summilux ASPHÂ
michaelwj Posted April 20, 2017 Share #3  Posted April 20, 2017 Hot off the press, here is a long and comprehensive review of the 28mm Summilux ASPH. It would be interesting to hear from 28 Summilux owners/users, to hear how their experiences with this lens match up with the reviewer's commentary on it.  Now that I've read the review, I'm not sure they even used it. It reads like a padded out Leica ad with some plots in it. The caption;   Edge-to-edge sharpness and low curvilinear distortion make this lens suited to architecture shots is not even for an architectural shot, but a "street" photo with some building in it. I think PetaPixel does better reviews.

I, by far, prefer reviews from the guy that speaks to famous dead people. How can I contradict a man that's in contact with Robin Williams?
01af Posted April 20, 2017 Share #5 Â Posted April 20, 2017 ... here is a long and comprehensive review of the Summilux-M 28 mm Asph. Â "Comprehensive"!? Don't be ridiculous. Â
cirke Posted April 22, 2017 Share #6  Posted April 22, 2017 I should try to do a lens cap review, it would be at least as useful :-)
enboe Posted April 22, 2017 Share #7 Â Posted April 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Carlos, Â I own and use the 28/1.4. Â Most recently, it was my only lens for my vacation to a flower festival. Â The lens is superb, I found absolutely no imaging issues in photos ranging from broad daylight to the dimmest night alleys. Â If there were one concern, it is heavy enough to feel clumsy on the M10, much the same as a 75/1.4 or Noctilux would be. The solution for the trip was to use the Leica handgrip, which better-balanced the kit. Â Â Does my terse response help? Â Any more specific questions I can speak to? Â Thanks. jrp Posted April 22, 2017 Share #8 Â Posted April 22, 2017 It is a characterless review. It would have been more interesting if the guy had just said that it's an expensive but still imperfect lens. (The only time I find it unappealing is wide open at night, when there is a bit too much CA. It disappears 1/2 to 1 stop down. Otherwise the resolution and rendering are all that you could want. Very attractive. The bulk / viewfinder blockage may deter some. For me, it's expensive but you can see when you are paying for (like most of the Summiluxes).) Kwesi Posted April 23, 2017 Share #9  Posted April 23, 2017 I found it to be a fair, objective and balanced review.
