proenca Posted April 18, 2017 Share #1 Â Posted April 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, Â When I used the Sony A7RII, these two sleepers were my favorite lenses : Contax C&Y mount 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4, specially the 85mm. Â They are a BARGAIN and they produce gorgeous images... but I dont see anyone with a SL and them ? the 50mm can be had for 200-300 and the 85 , 500-600 buys you a PRISTINE one. Â anyone has samples ? or its not a good idea ?
Advertisement Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hi proenca, Take a look here SL + Contax 85mm 1.4 ? + Contax 50mm 1.4 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
matnz Posted April 18, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted April 18, 2017 I have a c/y 50mm 1.7, 28mm 2.8, 35-70 and 80-200 and they are great on the SL, so the 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4 should also be sweet. Kipon makes an adapter that has been fine for me.
caissa Posted April 18, 2017 Share #3  Posted April 18, 2017 I like the Contax lenses - it is very nice to use them side by side with the Leica glass. I prefer the zooms, the 3.4/35-70 is producing high quality pics, but also the 28-85. Even the 80-200 is nice for macro. Like Leica Contax has a distinctive rendering (special colors) that I like very much. Leica has a lot of classy primes (R lenses), but very few "small" zooms at reasonable prices. While the once expensive Contax zooms cost now very little.

amoebahydra Posted April 19, 2017 Share #5  Posted April 19, 2017 I use a bit of Contax C/Y lenses on my Leica SL Type 601.  I often use Planar 2/100, Planar 2/135, Distagon 2/28, Distagon 1.4/35 and Vario-Sonnar 3.5/70-210 with a Novoflex LET/CONT adapter.
