apertur Posted April 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey, just realized that the magnification in review mode is 1 factor less/smaller compared to M240. So one step less of zooming in. Is this a negative? Or was the last step on the M240 overdone and only for pixel peepers?
Advertisement Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hi apertur, Take a look here Less magnification in review mode. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted April 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2017 I've noticed this also - BTW same compared to my M9; less "zoom-in" according to the little zoom indicator thumbnail showing the whole image. Could be one of two or more things: a) the new screen is higher rez and slightly larger (M10 1.04 Mpixels vs. M240 .92 Mpixels), and thus you have reached 1 image pixel per screen pixel at a lower overall magnification, or b ) the embedded raw preview jpeg is lower rez, thus there is no more detail to be seen, until the raw image is opened for real in your computer, or c) both, or d) something else
digitalfx Posted April 14, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 14, 2017 I'm very happy with the current zoom levels...are you seeing all three magnifications (one is 1x)?
adan Posted April 15, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 15, 2017 I'm seeing three steps zooming in from full image (4 different magnifications total). But e.g. my M9 zooms in four steps (but on a much smaller LCD), or 5 different magnifications total. The M9 thumbnail shows I've zoomed in - at maximum - to a tiny little pinpoint area of the image. But as I said, that could just be the difference in the LCD resolution and size. It's like (or I assume it is like) viewing a picture at 100% pixels on my 2560 x1440 Cinema display (pixel pitch about 110 ppi), vs. on my old obsolete 1024 x 768 CRT (pixel pitch 72 ppi). Assuming the screen size is the same (23" diagonal) the LCD shows just as much detail, only smaller - the CRT blew up the whole picture larger, but didn't actually show more detail, obviously. Or put another way, with an image 5000 pixels wide, the CRT only shows about 1/5 of the picture width, while the Cinema display shows over half the picture width, in the same area. Which "looks like" less magnification, even though both views are at "1x" (100% pixels). Not unhappy - just describing an observed fact.
digitalfx Posted April 15, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 15, 2017 ignore my comment, I thought OP was asking about focus aid zoom in.
