Jayant,

I have played with the HDR a lot. Sensor these days are able to give you similar effects from a single raw image but when light conditions are funky and if i have a tripod, ill generally shoot 3 or 6 images. First three -1 0 +1 and second one -2, 0, -2. there is no point in taking the normal exposure two times but its easier just to set it up that way. Now if you have extra time and patience then look into  Exposure Blending vs HDR. HDR is kind of like 'Auto' in a camera. The machine decides what you want and you can select from filters as you know. Blending allows you to decide what you want from the light platter (i coined this term). I find blending better than using graduated filters. Because no matter how exp the filter is, if you have expensive lens, you dont want a filter in the front to ruin it.

HDR tools i have :

- Aurora HDR

- Photomatix

- Lightroom ofcourse
