fotografr Posted June 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2007 That depends on the kind of photography you're interested in. For Photojournalism, the University of Missouri has always had a top program, with the University of Minnesota not far behind. For schools that just teach photography, the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara is very good. Several states have very good schools that concentrate more on the art and design side of photography. Joe Mondello Posted June 21, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 21, 2007 RIT surely has a top notch reputation. Another school to consider is the International Center Of Photography (ICP) in New York City, But it's not a college exactly (is it?).

sean_reid Posted June 22, 2007 Share #11 Posted June 22, 2007 In have some ideas but I'd also like to know what sort of photography the student wants to learn. What's the goal in the end? Various schools have various emphases. Cheers,
Steve C Posted June 22, 2007 Share #12 Posted June 22, 2007 RIT has turned out some of the finest pros. I am sure that some of the Art schools such as Ringling in Florida have good courses.
larry Posted June 22, 2007 Share #13 Posted June 22, 2007 In have some ideas but I'd also like to know what sort of photography the student wants to learn. What's the goal in the end? Various schools have various emphases. Cheers, Sean, Exactly -- does the student want an emphasis on the aesthetic or technical aspect of photography? My photography and industrial design degrees were in fine arts (BFA), but my time at RIT was spent bringing me up to technical speed. Larry
