It's interesting... You know, I think the less expensive the camera is these days (Digilux 3/L1, Oly E-330, Oly E-500, various p/s PanaLeicas) the fewer problems it seems to have. The more expensive the camera (Leica M8, Canon EOS 1D-III) the more angst it seems to generate.

Take the extreme awfulness floating about the Canon forums 'round abouts now. Apparently the new super Canon has some serious early adopter issues.

Anyway, I heard about (not a big Canon fan boi) the Mark III yesterday, and because I shoot a lot of dimly lit places where 800asa isn't really good enough I thought I'd check it out. I mean, usable 6400asa? Wow. Unfortunately it looks like a lot of people are PO'd.

So, what's the deal? Why is it the high end cameras that I might be interested in seem to have issues? Anyway, I suspect this will be just another runway rumor mill, and the camera will turn out to be fine in the end. LIke any electronic widget, it takes time to get the bugs out.

So when is the M8.2 coming out?

It's not that the high end cameras are more prone to bugs, low end models could have issues too. However, people are more likely to ignore the quirks in a 200 dollar point and shooter while they always like to make a big fuss about their expensive purchases.

You could check the customer ratings on a BMW 330 vs a Toyota Corolla on MSN Autos ... is the Corolla a better car? After all, nobody can beat Canon in AF speed and accuracy even when they're not at their best, Leica still takes the sharpest picture even magenta is the new black.
