fotografr Posted June 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just noticed when I put my pre-ASPH 35 lux on the M8, something obstructs the focusing ring so it won't go all the way to infinity. The last little bit of movement is blocked. Has anyone else had this issue? I know the lens can't be digitally coded, but I think that is because of the placement of the screws on the bayonet. jackal Posted June 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2007 yep, its a known issue i think it may be just confined to the canadian samples having said that, mine is canadian and mounts fine i bought it froma a local dealer to make sure that it fitted (instead of ebay)

See my previous post #17 on this http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/13988-how-good-35-1-4-summilux.html There have been other threads as well. The thread for the focus helical is cut into the rear bayonet mount, that's one reason why it can't easily be coded, there are no mounts available for it. Bob. fotografr Posted June 20, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted June 20, 2007 Thanks for the references. I suppose I'll still use the lens as I rarely focus to infinity anyway. If the problem was at the close focus end, I'd be in trouble. I'm one of those oddballs who still likes the fingerprint of that lens (Steve Unsworth being another). russell Posted June 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 20, 2007 Such a nice lens. It was my favorite on my old R-D1. I'd love to use it more on the M8 but I have the same problem. Mine will focus out to around 3 meters. The pic below was taken with it. Also you can follow my thread from the link below where I'm trying to fix the problem. How far does yours focus to? Also around 3 meters? how-file-down-pre-asph-35mm.html
