Anybody out there using the SL+Elmarit 24/90 2.8-4 lens for studio work? I've got an online fabric store. In the studio I'm using natural light, shooting fabric on a dress form and want the maximum color, clarity and light. I've had the camera/lens about 6 months, still on a learning curve, so any words of wisdom or feedback would be appreciated.

Almost every other day. What are you trying to achieve? Colour accuracy? You need a color checker. I'd also be looking at some lighting if you want to be able to achieve a desired result and then reproduce it exactly and consistently. Doesn't need to be expensive or large. A simple couple of cheap Godox flashes and a trigger will do.

Learn how to shoot and process raw files.

Gordon's advice is good.  I would expect that, shooting to support your fabric store, getting color accuracy is of primary importance.  That means you need to be able to control the light, not simply use natural light.  I'd get a pair of inexpensive, manual flashes, a pair of stands to put them on, and an inexpensive radio trigger then learn how to use them.  That by itself should get you consistent results rather than relying on natural light that is variable in both intensity and color.  The next step would be to add a color checker so you can profile your camera's response for your specific lighting conditions.  The combination should be very reliable and very accurate.

To really control the light you need professional studio lights and lightshapers, no cheap Godox flashes. Flashes, especially cheap ones, vary in light colour and performance. You get what you pay for.

I've tested my Godox flashes extensively against my Elinchroms. The Godox units are no better or worse in exposure and colour consistency. Certainly not for web use ( 8 bit files and uncalibrated viewing conditions).

As for light shapers for Chlothing on a horse I'd be using V flats or a big white wall any way. Nothing sophisticated required.
