YourFather Posted March 6, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey, So I have Leica 109 and I wanted to figure out the Focal Length. Since the lens is I guess 24-75mm I was expecting to see those in lightroom metadat but I am seeing 10.9mm 12.1mm etc. Am I understanding it wrongly? thank you for your answer Welcome, dear visitor! pop Posted March 6, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2017 The D-Lux has a sensor which is appreciably smaller than the image area of a traditional 35mm film. Hence, the focal lengths of the lens are smaller, to scale. The focal length is not as stated 24..75mm but rather something like 12mm. The angle of view of the camera is the same as the angle of view of a camera for 35mm films with a 24..75mm lens.

So if I zoom to 50mm is it the same frame as I would get If i had lets say M with 50mm? Or is it wider? Thank you
pop Posted March 6, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2017 When your camera says 50, the picture is as it would be with 50mm on an M.
YourFather Posted March 6, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted March 6, 2017 So I should just multiply the numbers by something to find out what focal lenght I am using right? Ok thank you very much.
pop Posted March 6, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 6, 2017 The data sheet for the D-Lux (Typ 109) has this to say on the topic of its lens: Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9– 34 mm f/1.7–2.8/ASPH., 35 mm camera equivalent: 24 - 75 mm This yields your factor.
