Likaleica Posted March 6, 2017 Share #1 Â Posted March 6, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone know if stacking the S Adapter C with the SL Adapter S allows full functions on a Contax lens?
Advertisement Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Hi Likaleica, Take a look here Stacked adapters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ynp Posted March 6, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted March 6, 2017 Tried. It doesn't work, unfortunately.

Guest VVJ Posted March 7, 2017 Share #4 Â Posted March 7, 2017 Unfortunately not. Â My quest for relatively lightweight primes would be over otherwise... Â It would be interesting to know why Leica explicitly disabled this.

It would be interesting to know why Leica explicitly disabled this. I guess Leica wants us to buy and use their heavy zooms or S-lenses.  I would be absolutely happy to be able to use my wonderful Contax 3,5/55mm and 2/80mm on the SL.  I would not be surprised if Leica dropped the Contax 645 and HC/HCD support with the introduction of the next S model.

The S user community is already fairly small I feel and pushing away people is not something Leica can afford at this stage IMHO.  Certainly dropping support for HC lenses would not be smart as HC lenses could be used on the XD1 which already offers more MP and a slightly larger sensor for half of the price... I hope you are right and Contax and HD lenses will be supported by a new S camera. I have Contax and Hasselblad HD lenses and can migrate to the opposition. But I want to stay with the S system....  I still cannot understand why Leica couldn't just add twelve lines of firmware code to the SL and let us use the AF 645 prime lenses. Not everybody wants zooms anyway.
