colorflow Posted June 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been trying to clean the bottom face (the side facing the mirror) of the focusing screen of my Viso III. Tried ti remove the frame holding the screen by unscrewing the 4 screws in the frame. But discovered the frame won't come off. Looks like there are two screws attached from the bottom up. Is there a way to clean it without openning up the housing? My attempts to wipe the face in situ have been quite unsuccessful. Always left some residues in some corners or sides. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Alan

jaapv Posted June 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2007 After the four screws have been removed it comes off, but the locating pins can be very tight, so you may have to lever it off. They are not screws but smooth pins.Take care not to damage the shims doing so. There are two little ballbearings held by small springs and located by two little black plastic "hats"inside, so take care not to lose them. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly and straightforward. It is an easy DIY project. You can disassemble the loupe/ pentaprism for cleaning without problem as well.
