Although I have a DR Summicron whose cam was filed down to work with the M9 and MM, I have been trying out an un-modified one that a friend wants to sell. I was interested in buying it so that I could use it on the M10 and on the M3/M6 with goggles. Unfortunately, while this lens works well on the M10 with the goggles in the close range, in the normal range it cannot be focused at infinity. Too bad, because the lens is in excellent condition and I wanted to buy it. On the M3/M6 it does focus to infinity.

Has anyone found a solution for getting this lens to focus on the M10, while retaining it's ability to be used in the close range on film M-cameras?

My 35mm f/2 RF Summicron (goggled) mounts and works great on my Leica M10. No focusing problems, great resolution and color.

I really want to know if the 50mm f/2 DR Summicron mounts and works close up on the M10.

Not sure if this is still relevant but I have an M10 and the dual range 50mm Summicron will not work on the M10.  You can't use the goggles in any case so it will not work in close up mode.  In normal mode it can't focus to infinity.  It can only focus to about 15ft or so.  I would not mount the lens on the camera to test.  I just leave it on my M3.

Really ?

Have you really tried them ?

I had some DR and only one focused to "plus 10m" and found simple solution for it.

Now my (many) DRs 100 % compatible with M10 and film M !

have a look here:

I just got a DR (SN 1,985xxx) and tried it on my M10-P and MM246.

On both, it stops just short of infinity, so I'm going to try the filing instructions that a.noctilux posted in the other thread about this, linked to in the previous post (thanks so much for posting that info!)

For the record, the goggles worked perfectly for close-focussing on the M10-P, once I looked up how to install them, which wasn't at all obvious.

Good luck with that. My worry would be ensuring no filing residue got in the lens. If you can find Instructions for M2 on-line there is a section on use of the DR. You have probably found you have to put lens in near focus scale (by pulling forward to clear stop) before you can fit goggles.

Thanks, yes, that was the tricky part.

I have the same concern about the filing; I'm thinking of taking an approach similar to what my dentist used recently while grinding the hell out of one of my teeth—a piece of latex covering everything but the part that is being worked on, which protrudes through the latex. And maybe something more robust covering the back element. I haven't worked out the details yet.  Any expert advice would be most welcome...

I was able to use the 50mm Summicron DR on my Leica SL2 using the M-Adapter-L. No problems with attaching the lens to the adapter - went on smoothly. Now this solves my desire to use this great lens on a 47 mp Leica digital camera. But naturally can't use the "goggles".
