Jenningsmca Posted February 11, 2017 Share #1  Posted February 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I own the Leica SL w/Elmar-Vario 24-90 lens, Summilux 35mm & Summilux 50mm lenses. There is a Summilux 24mm lens for sale locally for what I think is a real good price. I am wondering is I need such a fast UWA lens when I have the 24-90 lens ?  It feels like I am getting it becasue its a good deal and satisfying some GAS than if I really need it. Would come in handy for auto shows inside, architecture and landscapes. My heart really wants a Tilt-Shift for the later photography but I have not settled on a lens yet. Leica has indicated they would make TS for the SL but it could be years before they are released.  Is the Summilux 24mm nice to have or should I wait for something like a Summilux 21mm or the as promised 16-35-SL lens slated for this fall.  I am supposed to pickup this lens tomorrow so any thoughts would be encouraging.   MJ Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Jenningsmca Posted February 11, 2017 Author Share #5 Â Posted February 11, 2017 I'm thinking I will keep the money and put it towards something unique, I don't shoot 24mm that often and the 35fle is very good. The 24-90 can be used for landscape work as I have to bring a tripod anyhow. These lenses are expensive, has anyone read about the latest Sigma art lens which according to DXO is better than the Otus for a third of the price. jrp Posted February 11, 2017 Share #6 Â Posted February 11, 2017 Well, the zoom will give you a couple of extra stops through OIS, so you'd be using the Summilux only for the open look (which is great), or indoor/night shooting. Where do you live? Â For US and people faraway who order online (ANZACs) B&H Photo or Adorama is probably good bet. Â For EU/UK (until we Brexit), Foto Huppert in Germany. Â If you do an eBay search you will get a high number of hits from across the globe (also UV) - many reputable dealers with perfect feedback as well.
