Do you think that T and Q can be complementary?

Recommended Posts

I have both. With the T, lots of lens options....and I find easier to use and a bit more fun. The Q is terrific, way better IQ being full frame and excellent lens, faster, more of a race car I take when IQ really matters and 28mm is appropriate for the subject. Most of the time, it's too wide angle for me but have learned to like it.

Is that a typo, or you really bought the huge monster 50 TL Lux to use it on the T?

You're right. It's not a TL 50 mm (maybe you thought SL 50 Lux) but the TL 35 summilux that I use, which is a 50mm equivalent on the T (APS-C).

It's quite big but a really good lens.

The TL 23 is a 35mm equivalent .

So, with the Q and T lenses, I'll be able to shoot 28, 35 or 50mm which is a good range for me.

Right I thought about the SL Lux that is far to big for my taste. I am still looking for a companion for my Q, something around 55-75mm but I can`t find the right one. Tried the T, the Pro2 and the A7II without getting hooked. The X1D with 90mm is the only one I would consider but 12k € for the set is a bit to much for my budget..

Why not the Q and an M?

The X1d should be a great camera once is available, but will be larger and much slower for different type photography. I am also considering the Fuji GFX, slightly cheaper, as an alternative but leaning towards the Hasselblad simply because of the ergonomics.

I have the M and T system, bought a Q and found it nice but too much overlap with the T ad M so I sold the Q and dont miss it.

I dont find the Q IQ worlds better than the T, and I find the 28mm FOV of the Q quite limiting, fun at the beginning but after some time...

I also find 28mm not a focal lengths where you necessarly need a fast lens.

So for me a T with the 18-56 + the 23 and/or 35 mm prime is more usefull.

I have the Q as prime top camera and a T with 11-23 and 60 macro. They are complementary, the 60 macro is terrific, even on an APS-C sensor. It is like a 90mm, great also for landscapes and portraits.

I love the Q, love to go around with it... but the T has a super wide-angle and a 60 mm which are sometime useful. However, these 2 cameras and 3 lenses are by far lighter then my previous 1DX and 5D Canon bodies with 4 lenses.... ;)

From my limited experience with the M I found the rangefinder works great for 28/35, ok for 50 and it is more or less useless for 75-90 and on top of that the fact that you start with 70-100 cm minimum focus distance keeps me away from that beauty.  Still I would buy a 50+mm Q on the day of release, as I did with the 28 Q, but Leica told me that will not happen.
