That's a wonderful image, Helen (although I had to go to your Flickr to see it)

It's amazing how much I can forget about how to use the M10 after messing with DSLR's for a while, and it's pleasantly amazing how quickly those things come back to me.  I took one photo today after finally getting most of the settings right, but when I edited in DxO PhotoLab 5, I found that auto-white-balance didn't work for me - so I changed the setting (and the camera) to 5600K.

I wasn't able to hold the camera steady, so I removed the M10 strap, and put on one of the standard Leica straps like I've used for just about all my cameras - and then tightened it up, so the camera was pressed against my face to steady it.  I think I was a lot steadier many years ago.  I still made errors, but the more errors I make, the more I'll learn how to avoid them in the future.

Like I posted elsewhere, one of my Nikon D750's is sold, and my second one should be gone shortly.  My goal is to use the M10 exclusively.  Either I will get used to it, or it will get used to me!

I'm still wondering if the accessories I bought are good for me.  I bought the thumb-rest that goes into the mount on top of the M10, and after debating for a while, I bought the "grip" that mounts on the bottom of the camera, and supposedly allow me to hold the camera a bit more steadily.  I'm 78, and I need all the help I can get!

Trying again, similar image, cropped more, and taken just as the sun was rising behind me.  This is actually pretty close to how it looked to my eyes.  M10, Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR, processed in DxO PhotoLab 5.

When I looked out my window, I saw a pretty photo of a blue sailboat floating in Biscayne Bay.  After putting on my my 135mm Tele Elmar, the "pretty" was replaced by a rather rugged sailboat in need of fix-up, and some rather disturbed water.  This is NOT the picture my brain saw, but it is very much the picture the M10 captured, after editing in PhotoLab 5.  Now I've got a kaleidoscope of chopped up colors, that weren't apparent to me when I captured the image.

The photo is cropped, a lot.  It's not what I thought I had photographed, but probably a lot more interesting.

As the sun was setting, it started to rain, and everything in my field of vision as I looked out from my balcony across Biscayne Bay turned into a brilliant yellow fog, lit by the sun which was way out in the distance.  I saw a few boats and the island, with the tower, and grabbed my M10 with the 135mm lens still mounted.  I couldn't use the tripod, as out on my balcony it was still raining, so I propped my camera against the corner of the wall on my right, tried to hold it  steady, and took six photos.  In the first photo, the buildings in the city couldn't be seen.  In the last photo, the fog had lifted, and the lovely effect I was trying to capture had gone.  I had maybe five seconds to get two acceptable photos, and of them this is my favorite.  It's still cropped, a lot.

Doing this with the M10 was almost easy, despite the tiny size of the view in my viewfinder window - the area for the 135mm lens is pretty tiny.  Maybe I could have used "live view", but I was concentrating too hard on what I was already doing.

Seeing it now, on my computer screen, reminds me of exactly what it looked like through my viewfinder, or my bare eyes.

The more I use my M10, the less I miss my Nikon DSLR.
