Jeff S Posted February 3, 2017 Share #21 Posted February 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I prefer weather sealed native lenses....if, of course, IQ suffices. The speed of the announced lenses also seems fine for my needs. Jeff
Advertisement Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Hi Jeff S, Take a look here Fuji Medium format released in the USA $6,499. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeff S Posted February 3, 2017 Share #22 Posted February 3, 2017 I'm just curious to how good the EVF is... +1 One reviewer said he liked it better than the one on the SL. I hope that's true. The higher magnification may have been a contributing factor. I wish, too, that Leica would hurry up and announce a permanent fix for S lenses.....and a S008 to drive down prices of the 007....that's the VF that I really love. That might quiet my interest for the Fuji. Jeff
349A Posted February 3, 2017 Share #23 Posted February 3, 2017 I spoke with Leica S service in Germany a week ago, they informed me they do have a permanent fix for the autofocus. Why it isn't publicly announced, I'm unsure.
Deliberate1 Posted February 3, 2017 Share #24 Posted February 3, 2017 I spoke with Leica S service in Germany a week ago, they informed me they do have a permanent fix for the autofocus. Why it isn't publicly announced, I'm unsure.Did they indicate if broken lenses are now being fitted with the fix? I have a 35mm that in a box ready to go. But I would wait if the remedy is not finalized. Thanks.David
eprom Posted February 3, 2017 Share #25 Posted February 3, 2017 I have two lenses on repair at the moment, one broke down and the other one will get the updated fix in advance - so there is a new permanent fix. Best, Peter__

Paul J Posted February 17, 2017 Share #31 Posted February 17, 2017 This Fuji is really looking better and better. The samples coming through are amazing, ISO 12000 looks really good. Body, 63 and 120 lenses for £10K is just incredible. How will Leica respond to this?

Body, 63 and 120 lenses for £10K is just incredible. How will Leica respond to this? I see it the other way around: 7 years after Leica and Pentax brought the DSLR-style medium format camera to the market Fuji responds with announcement with its first generation product and first few lenses. How long will it take until Fuji lens offering will be as complete as the Leica S lens list ist today available? How will the first generation of this camera work? Jeff S Posted February 22, 2017 Share #36 Posted February 22, 2017 I see it the other way around: 7 years after Leica and Pentax brought the DSLR-style medium format camera to the market Fuji responds with announcement with its first generation product and first few lenses. How long will it take until Fuji lens offering will be as complete as the Leica S lens list ist today available? How will the first generation of this camera work? Well, if they deliver on their roadmap, that will be 6 (possibly 7) lenses this year, including a zoom and macro, with indications of continuing to be aggressive. Of course that remains to be seen... on delivery and execution. Recall, by comparison, the S lens rollout... delayed well beyond expectations, some for years and some never (wide T/S, longer tele, etc).... and a total mess on the AF motor issues, including lack of communication and transparency. Seems Fuji has a low bar to hurdle. Jeff
djmay Posted February 22, 2017 Share #37 Posted February 22, 2017 I would say Fuji has high bar with respect to predictably high image quality. It does not mean they cannot do it; they need to prove it. Jesse Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Jeff S Posted February 22, 2017 Share #38 Posted February 22, 2017 Sure, but 51.4 MP is a decent start, with a generally proven sensor. And their history of prompt FW updates is good. IQ is generally not the impediment for quality systems these days... usually exceeding user skills and printing needs within a totally disciplined workflow. Products fail in other regards. tom0511 Posted February 22, 2017 Share #39 Posted February 22, 2017 I dont argue that Fuji can be a very good and interesting system. I just wanted to mention that Leica and others where a couple of years earlier with their entry into MF, so I didnt understand the question how Leica would respond. Jeff S Posted February 22, 2017 Share #40 Posted February 22, 2017 I dont argue that Fuji can be a very good and interesting system. I just wanted to mention that Leica and others where a couple of years earlier with their entry into MF, so I didnt understand the question how Leica would respond. It's the nature of leapfrogging. Just because a company is first doesn't mean that it can't fall behind. They need to respond to their own issues....lens failures and such....and increasingly because competition doesn't stand still. Moreover, the price point has been dramatically changed for Leica. The S2 and S006 were priced at about $20-25k for the body alone.....that's laughable now. Pentax changed the playing field in that regard, and others are now challenging them. And so it goes. Jeff
