FeralCoton Posted January 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got a new 24mm elmar for my mp240. It works wonderfully but I noticed that when I focus the lens to infinity, the central rangefinder patch does not seem completely in focus (as though I need to move the focus ring a bit more). I don't think it's the camera as the central patch is fine with my 35mm and 50mm. The shots with the 24mm at infinity are fine, but the central patch doesn't quite align. Is this normal as I know the 24mm exceeds the rangefinder field of view? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Advertisement Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Hi FeralCoton, Take a look here Infinity focus and central patch with 24mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
edwardkaraa Posted January 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2017 The rangefinder patch is basically asking you to back focus. It's probably the lens that needs calibration but maybe the depth of field of the 24mm will be enough to cover for the issue. I would recommend to do a close focus test to judge the seriousness of the problem.
FeralCoton Posted January 16, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted January 16, 2017 Yes. The pics were fine. Took it by Leica. It seems to be the lens, but both my M and the lens had to go in for calibration. Yikes! Back to the T for a while. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
jaapv Posted January 16, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 16, 2017 They always want both, as they must be calibrated to the common standard and Leica wants to make sure the whole system is spot-on.

FeralCoton Posted January 19, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted January 19, 2017 I feel abandoned without my M. I am fortunate to have my T to pass the time. I was a little puzzled why they wanted both and hope the focus isn't thrown out on other lenses that were fine. The very knowledgeable person at the LA store assured me. FeralCoton Posted February 7, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted February 7, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Argh. Got it back in a timely fashion but it was adjusted too far the other way. I wonder if it is just the tolerance, tho others bodies seem spot on at infinity. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
