leicoPT Posted January 13, 2017 Share #1  Posted January 13, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I'm a photographer and also someone interested in film fotography and repair, I'm from Portugal and I'm new here and kind of really need some whelp here. So, I receive this lens to repair, and the diagnost was simple, someone have been messing up with the lens and as left a lot of screws just hanging inside the lens! I start to unscrew the outer srews on the mount, and al fine, until a realize the whole lens was just there juggling inside.  My problem now is to try and take out the front element, how do I do that? There is no screws or holes on the front element. Any Idea?  Thank you in advance  Welcome, dear visitor! Lord Lucan Posted January 13, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted January 13, 2017 I think you need to use rubber tool for that. You can search for lens rubber tool in google or ebay. Goodluck.
dkCambridgeshire Posted January 19, 2017 Share #3  Posted January 19, 2017 You need to access Thomas Tomosy's 'Leica Camera Repair Manual' which illustrates required tools . if you can find a suitable rubber ring to fit / press onto the retaining annulus it should unscrew.  dunk
Elmer Posted January 23, 2017 Share #4  Posted January 23, 2017 To remove the name ring on other lenses you need something which can turn the name ring (it's likely to be thread onto the lens body. So - you need something which can grip onto the name ring. I use two things to do this. A deodorant spray can lid/cap. A sheet of rubber.  The rubber sheet is material similar to that used in party balloons. The spray can lid is of a diameter to fit onto the name ring.  If you have the rubber covering the name ring, and place the spray can lid on top, you can get decent purchase to turn the name ring and easily remove it. There will no doubt be a bespoke tool for this job, but my makeshift tools work perfectly for this LOL...
