Advertisement Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Hi dshombert, Take a look here 3rd party battery for X Vario?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
waloszek Posted January 4, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2017 Many users reported to have no problems with their third party batteries for the X Vario, but mine is definitely poor regarding its capacity. Maybe its capacity / price ratio is better than that of the original battery, but I find it disturbing when it does not last long. I never really checked this, but it looks like it has only half the capacity of the original one... Best regards, Gerd
Trivette Posted January 4, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 4, 2017 I am using a Wasabi in my XV, and the capacity seems to be about the same as that of the original battery. However, the quality of third party batteries is probably variable.
gbealnz Posted January 5, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 5, 2017 I lucked out and found a spare genuine battery, this when I had both an X1, and an X-Vario. Sold the X1, but still have the X-Vario, and two batteries. Keep the eyes open for the genuine ones, given their age, they will be about, and "cheaper" than they started out. I think the Wasabi is a little less capacity and it drops out rapidly without a good reading when low, but much, much cheaper than the Leica one. dshombert Posted January 5, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted January 5, 2017 Thanks to all. I used Wasabi batteries in another brand of camera once and they were fine, so maybe I'll try one now. Do the Wasabi batteries charge OK in the Leica charger (and vice versa)? Any problems there?

DwF Posted May 13, 2019 Share #12 Posted May 13, 2019 I've used Wasabi and currently have one as a spare for my X, XV. My sense from current (no pun intended) experience, is that they are good until they are not. Mine is charging now in the Leica charger, and when I tried this yesterday, the green ready light came on after 45 mins. I raised an eyebrow but loaded it back in the camera. I made a few exposures and the battery icon showed empty. I placed it back in the charger and again the light came on. I am leaving it for a while to see whether that will do any good. Based on similar experience doing this with M9/MM batteries, I hold out little hope! David
goatsby Posted May 14, 2019 Share #13 Posted May 14, 2019 I’ve had the same exact experience as David and just recycled one of my Wasabi batteries after years of use as it was charging fast and dying quickly. It’s not holding up the the Leica branded batteries but for a fraction of the price it doesn’t owe me anything.
DwF Posted May 14, 2019 Share #14 Posted May 14, 2019 Adam, If you got years of use on a Wasabi that's good and nothing to complain about! Or put another way- Wasab with that?! 😁 David
