leica1215 Posted December 26, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 26, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) the M has the option of sensor check, I know the SL doesn't have this option, but can we somehow check the sensor dust?

thighslapper Posted December 26, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2016 F16 and an overcast sky or plain wall. I've had my SL 13 months and yet to see any dust spots on an image ...... and that includes cycling trips abroad in dusty areas and frequent lens changing. As a general principle 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' applies to sensor cleaning ....... if there is nothing evident under normal usage, forget it ..... pkwok Posted December 26, 2016 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2016 I have my SL for 2 months, I change the lens infrequently, and I got an adherent dust/ stain on the sensor, which cannot be blown by simple air pump or compressed air. At the end, I cleaned it with eclipse solution. Now clean.
scott kirkpatrick Posted December 26, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2016 The quickest test for those who have to know -- set f/16 and shoot a well-lit white wall or a clear sky. Inspect at 100%. Don't dig further without evidence. scott
ramarren Posted December 26, 2016 Share #5 Posted December 26, 2016 I mount my Skink pinhole and shoot the sky. A blower bulb has always eliminated any boulders on the sensor. Most other detritus this illuminates won't show at f/22. :-)
