Well back in 5 weeks, with a new skin in a different colour for £43 only, great service. Lots of bad press about sensor issues. My vote is to celebrate how Leica persevered to find a permanent solution for an 'obsolete camera' and have replaced if for free in 5 weeks, when I picked it up I had  chat with a nice guy from Leica Germany asking if I had been offered a loaner and if I would have been interested in trying an SL as a loaner if I had have been offered !

An interesting idea taking an opportunity for owners to try a new camera and perhaps buy something they wouldn't otherwise have done

Well done Leica

The service offered is excellent from what I've heard. Good to see they didn't replace the top plate and you've kept your lovely brassing. The brown skin actually looks quite smart, was that a option or did you ask for it? I've heard they'll engrave the top plate on a regular m9 too, I'd like the nice Leica logo maybe.

As they replace the skin you can upgrade to any of the a la carte options, I was asked as I had a non standard black lizard print skin. I think they under charged, I was expecting £80 if I recall correctly. When I get bored I might buy another aftermarket lizard print skin but didn't want a standard black one!

Noticed I had a cracked sensor (can't really miss it) and e-mailed Leica for UPS label. Recieved acknowledgement of reciept on 22/12, and later that day sent "estimate" - sensor change/rangefinder adjust etc.etc. FOC (Goodwill). Also option to have covered in a la carte leather for €100. Seemed impolite not to take up this option. Will confirm when returned.
