LADP Posted November 27, 2006 Share #62 Posted November 27, 2006 Bit late now, if a little bird has already told him Yes, I'm afraid Santa's Italian Elves are probably hard at work as we speak. Thank you for the alternative suggestion all the same.
thomasw_ Posted November 27, 2006 Share #63 Posted November 27, 2006 William, I like those cases. I noticed that they make one for the M5; do you own it? If so, have you been happy with it? My M5 is one of those side-only two strap types. Though I don't mind it, I like the way this case holds the M5. Is the field of view selector switch obstructed in anyway in this M5 case? Respectfully, Thomas W.
johnkuo Posted November 27, 2006 Share #64 Posted November 27, 2006 Thanks Anthony. Yes it's a Luigi half case. The Kameraleder looks nice as well. I do find the cases slow me down when changing film, and I would only use it on this black MP for more leasure shooting. I don't use cases on my other Ms.
lambroving Posted November 27, 2006 Share #65 Posted November 27, 2006 Anthony, I don't own the first Leica bag I ever bought. You try kit until you find something which works for you. The stuff George makes is harder to get, but the quality is the same as the Leica bodies and you don't need to use the body strap lugs which can, over time, develop light leaks. Thomas, My cameras stay in bags until I'm shooting with them. The M5 mainly stays out of harm's way if you use the side straps. Can't comment on the cases. Never used a "never-ready" case... My M7 really needs the half case for protection and for grip when I use it with larger lenses. The MP is in a pouch when I travel with one camera and often wears only a wrist strap because it's relatively compact with only a 35/2 mounted, which is more or less welded on. :-) Fogg Specialist Bags - photographic bags and camera cases You live and learn..., at least SOME do. LADP Posted November 27, 2006 Share #66 Posted November 27, 2006 Fogg Specialist Bags - photographic bags and camera cases You live and learn..., at least SOME do. You know, I have a Fogg B-Laika, and it's not that old (three months perhaps), and I have recently noticed something that concerns me. The leather piece that clasps the top flap down onto the main bag has gotten very loose, and comes off so easily that I am concerned that if I grab the bag by the strap slightly unevenly, the top may inadvertently open and my body and/or lenses could come tumbling out. It's enough of an isse that I think I will be buying a different bag fairly soon. Although I love the quality of this bag, I feel that the design of the leather clasp is a weakpoint, and a potential hazard in the protection of my kit. Have you noticed any such issues with your Fogg bag or bags?
lambroving Posted November 27, 2006 Share #67 Posted November 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anthony, Not familiar with that one because I use a b-Major and the tension on the strap tends to keep the flap firmly engaged. Had it for three years. Suggest you mail "bee" and describe the problem. She will doubtless offer to repair it/correct the problem. Be patient. They moved from the "hustle and bustle" of London to a quiet part of France and have a slow connection..., and read their mail maybe only once every day or so. wizard Posted November 28, 2006 Share #71 Posted November 28, 2006 This is just to confirm what William said about the cases from George of Kameraleder. I bought one from George for my IIIg last year, and it is the best everready case I've ever seen. Quality of workmanship is on par with the old hand-stitched Leica cases, but the leather is of a higher, more supple and wonderfully smelling quality. Expensive, but worth it. rob_x2004 Posted November 28, 2006 Share #72 Posted November 28, 2006 Not in love. Hope not to be really. Planned user and traveller, and stuff. Feels good. Bag it round me neck, spares in a pocket. Guest darkstar2004 Posted January 2, 2007 Share #76 Posted January 2, 2007 Hello, The MP is an aesthetically beautiful and technically perfect handicraft experience for me. In its quiet elegance it inspires me again and again. Kind regards Wolfgang (MP grey hammertone, 2,8/28; 1,4/50; 2/50) Lordy, that Hammertone MP is a beauty! I pined for one when they were first out. Now I look at my one black MP 0.72 and realize how fortunate I am to have it... :-)

Now I look at my one black MP 0.72 and realize how fortunate I am to have it... :-) Hello Allan, The black painted MP is for the eye and the senses a benefit it to be looked at. That is left the intensive use its beautiful traces, was for me a temptation. I had for a long time considered whether I was to decide for these. But the hammer blow had then particularly done it to me nevertheless. Kind regards and a good new year Wolfgang
