I like its black chrome better compared to my MP's black paint. A black chrome MP is just the ticket.

Probably a pretty subjective choice. I like both for different reasons. The Paint is certainly (to me anyway) more beautiful and it's warmer to the touch, especially on cold days. I prefer the black chrome overall, as it's more understated and workman-like. I like that. And for an MP, obviously, its a little more unique. Though black chrome can get pretty cold to touch, comparatively.

Agreed. I wish black chrome was the standard on the black MP's and the black paint was reserved for a la carte - I put wear-marks fast enough on my gear without any "help". Though I do agree the black paint is quite striking.

I was looking yesterday at a brand new example and the dealer wiped off my obvious finger-marks before putting it back in the box. I understood that historically the black paint was introduced as photographers were taping off the chrome and wanted an inconspicuous finish. To my eye the black paint version is today anything but inconspicuous and seemed too "precious" to use. I also looked at a re-painted, by Leica, M2, which was correct as black paint, the dealer said was worth half being re-painted. Do we place too much value on the cosmetic look ?

I walked out with an M2 BTW :)

Wowwwwww:eek: Not a mark on it. Ehhhh give it a week:D.

The funny thing is, I bought it second hand in Tokyo, and the shop assistant said, "You can see signs of use." She pointed to a couple of small, barely visible smudges on the top plate.

I hadn't owned it more than a few hours before it got its first "kiss."

Thanks, Allan.

Yes, mostly portraits, including street portraits and pictures of friends, etc. Also a bit of architectural stuff, scenes of daily life in Tokyo and anything else worth photographing.

Also, my M6 is due for a CLA, and now I won't have to go through M withdrawl.

OK, here I am again. I've used my MP daily since my last post. I have put a new vulcanite skin on it and it starts to show brassing.

The M8 has been collecting dust ever since. Just don't feel like using it, except for the occasional paid job.

What can I say - it's a kick ass camera and I feel I've come home.

Never been so happy. My newest addition (from yesterday) is a Elmar-M I bought on eBay. A fantastic lens with an unique fingerprint. Lovely. And a perfect addition to my MP.

I am travelling light.

Here's mine. Along with the Zeiss family : 25/2.8, 35/2 and 50/2. A Jupiter-9 85/2 is on its way.

Not sure how long I will hold on to this kit. The plan was to add a refined and reformed M8.2 or M9 - but M8.2 is quite disappointing price vs. specs wise. The amount saved for M8.2 /9 along with the sum obtained from this (future) sale might be used to get a new system. I will see how things shape up post-PhotoKina, what kind of DRF Nikon Red bring out or if the price of Phase One camera drops even further.

What ever system I get, I have decided to get only 4 primes: 21mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. May be a macro. I don't need anything else.

If I ever have to bid goodbye to the Leica set up, it will be a very sad day. :o

Nice gear. How do you find the Zeiss Biogon lenses? I saw them for the first time here in Sydney.

EXCELLENT . 25/2.8 is razor sharp. 35/2 's colour rendition is great. 50/2 is good for portraits, though some people like 50/1.5 for its 'special' drawing.

Thanks for this. I will look into the Biogons. I have a 80m Zeiss on my H'blad, and when its "on song" its f'ing brilliant. Happy shooting and deciding !
