1 pic, yes, I live in Tokyo within walking distance of Ginza, which is a photographer's paradise on weekends. I shoot with an M6 mostly in b&w. A few months ago, I rented an MP for a few days and ended up shooting six rolls in a day.

Last year, I was exploring the purchase of a Nikon D200 and instead ended up more than doubling my budget for an M6 and 35 'cron asph instead. Within a few months, I'd also acquired a black paint 90 'cron apo asph. A C-Lux 2 is adequate for my digital needs. No regrets! The rangefinders are magical.

Welcome to the ranks of those of us who have defected back to film!

thanks, JBA - you live in Tokyo. Lucky you!

I'm already thinking of getting a second MP... I just removed my M6 from eBay, I was going to sell it, but I am now keeping it, going back to film for good.

Amen to that! I have come to the same conclusion.

I do landscape, travel, macro and fine art imagemaking; in other words, I shoot on my terms, not at someone else's dictates.

If I were shooting weddings where people expect to get married and see their wedding photos online in 4 hours, I'd be forced to take up digital. Same with photojournalism, fashion or magazine work. Since I run the show - not someone else - I can shoot film.

I make fine art prints from scanned Fuji Velvia transparencies; my printmaker keeps digital "enhancement" to a bare minimum, using Photoshop only to match the final print to the transparency.

The thing with this process is its all about the scan. If you have a good scan, you can make a print nearly any size you want from even a 35mm transparency. If you want BIG prints from 35mm Velvia, find a lab that uses the Hasselblad/Imacon scanner, such as Bob Korn Imaging

Film produces images that have a look, a "feel," a fingerprint that digital lacks. This is lost on most people, but a discerning eye can see it. When you shoot B&W, a whole new world of visual feel is layed open at your feet. With B&W, the possibilities are almost endless.

I'll take my MP with three controls ovea a Nikon D3 with its 420 page instruction book any day. If film was good enough for Ansel Adams, HCB, Constantine Manos, Galen Rowell, and Charlie Waite, it's good enough for me.

Isn't it beautiful that we have a choice?

Cheers and happy shooting

It's way too hot here in Oregon today. Staying cool inside with my black chrome MP and a nice old Summaron 35.

I hope everyone is having a good one!

...hey, Andy, your black chrome MP's serial # consists of six digits instead of the usual seven. Am I missing something here?

Perfect match for low light...

(Well, at least the camera and the lens. You don´t necessarily need the box ;) )

Cheers, Z.

Hi Peter,

no, it´s a 0.72x.

Only got the lens yesterday so I will have to try if I get along with my 0.72x.

If I don´t (which I hope ;) ) I´ll add another MP.

Cheers, Z.

this thread is evil. now I must have one of these beautiful black paint MPs with the brassing showing through.

Have you actually shot a few rolls with one? Budget-destroyingly addictive.
