thomasw_ Posted December 14, 2007 Share #348 Posted December 14, 2007 Peter, that MP3 is gorgeous. After a MP with 0.58 VF, as I adore the 25 and 35 FLs, it would be my favourite body.
chris_livsey Posted December 14, 2007 Share #349 Posted December 14, 2007 Looks fantastic Peter, though people are going to object.Black body, silver lens;-) AND if I'm not mistaken a B+W filter tucked in there as well !
Lewis Posted December 14, 2007 Share #350 Posted December 14, 2007 This is an uber geek thread but I am loving these cameras!! They look SO mint!
peter_n Posted December 15, 2007 Share #351 Posted December 15, 2007 I'm a color agnostic, I just buy whatever is available at the right price and I don't care about black or chrome. I have two chrome M7s and this is actually my first black Leica. So take a look at the back of the camera below and see if you like it as much... It isn't actually as bad as it looks, I angled the camera so the reflection would show up the scratches, but you can see this is not a collector's camera! As you can imagine the price really reflected this so I didn't mind at all... Welcome, dear visitor! imported_peter_m Posted December 15, 2007 Share #352 Posted December 15, 2007 Peter, This is just horrible.... no way you can use a camera like that. Best send it to me and I will make sure no one will be offended by those horrible scratch marks The previous owner must have gotten in a bit of a wreck with it. frc Posted December 15, 2007 Share #353 Posted December 15, 2007 The paint has to be rubbed of, not scratched.
phovsho Posted December 16, 2007 Share #354 Posted December 16, 2007 I don't know if I love mine yet. I only picked up the body last Saturday at a local dealer and so far we've only been on one date,,, Today I reserved a new black MP-3 kit from a dealer today. I pick it up in early March. It will be the sister of a black MP. I also managed to get a 35/2 asph in black paint to match. I now have 3 odd months to sell some kit (WATE, M6s etc)to pay for all this. phovsho Posted December 16, 2007 Share #355 Posted December 16, 2007 Whoops. Peter, in my excitement I forget to say congrats and looks great. I like the idea of mixing black and silver. I'm like you in that I intend to use the MP 3. I will look after it, but expect it to show some character with battle scars. Best M
RITskellar Posted December 17, 2007 Share #356 Posted December 17, 2007 While trying out the new Ricoh GR-D 2, I snapped this shot of my MPs. gylee Posted December 17, 2007 Share #357 Posted December 17, 2007 Do you think the pain is less if the first post I make using my new M8 is of my MP? (FYI - the M8 sure feels plasticy by comparison, and the lens mount does not have the same positive "click" when you mount a new lens. Its nice though. Is it an object of love? Let's see. Until I get an IR filter, you are all welcome to enjoy the magenta lens shade on my Biogon. No idea why that was the only black which came up purple. I would have thought the strap would have been a more obvious culprit.) Welcome, dear visitor! peter_n Posted December 17, 2007 Share #358 Posted December 17, 2007 Today I reserved a new black MP-3 kit from a dealer today. I pick it up in early March. It will be the sister of a black MP. I also managed to get a 35/2 asph in black paint to match.Murray these are limited edition cameras. I believe 1000 were made, 500 chrome and 500 black. The top of the cam says something like 0624/1000 to (I guess) additionally identify the camera body in a list. I guess I'm kind of surprised that they are still being sold new by dealers because they were released in Sept/Oct 2005 I think and they were a hot item at the time. Big dealers like B&H here in the US still list the camera on their web site but they have a notice that it is either unavailable/discontinued (can't remember which). Your dealer is ordering the camera from Germany and says they are still available?
phovsho Posted December 17, 2007 Share #359 Posted December 17, 2007 Hello Peter Thanks for your post. I have searched the world for an MP-3 set and finally found one new. I saw it on the weekend, boxed and unopened. I asked the dealer to hold it for me, and I will pick up and make final payment in March. He had both silver and black versions of the camera. I took the black. A collector from Asia, who was standing next to me when I inquired, bought the silver one! Good day for the camera company I guess. JBA Posted December 18, 2007 Share #360 Posted December 18, 2007 Murray these are limited edition cameras. I believe 1000 were made, 500 chrome and 500 black. The Leica showroom in Ginza, Tokyo currently has one of each as a set with a Summilux ASPH and Leicavit.
