Or better not. I don't want to be further tempted...or perhaps I do

I am glad you noticed it. My " new" MP has been made about two years ago already. I bought it, because I regretted trading my old MP for a new M9.
rcutting Posted March 2, 2013 Share #2934 Posted March 2, 2013 I agree, strange serial numbers, i sent an email to my Leica store in Washington DC, and asked why this is, I will share what i find out.
Paulus Posted March 2, 2013 Share #2935 Posted March 2, 2013 I agree, strange serial numbers, i sent an email to my Leica store in Washington DC, and asked why this is, I will share what i find out. It is known that they make them in batches, this could be a black batch from 2 years ago still in stock? I would not worry about it. The camera stays the same and you have the very fine beautiful black MP you wanted.
mikebidwell Posted March 2, 2013 Share #2936 Posted March 2, 2013 Interesting variation in MP serial numbers:- Post #2918 2 week-old black ALC = 3516593 Post #2808 my Jul 2012 chrome ALC = 3516573 Post #2919 (Paulus) new chrome ALC = 3976035 Post #2913 new black ALC = 4419503 Bemused... Perhaps this goes to show that Leica's serial numbering does not follow a sequence when building MP's ?. After all we've seen the way their Lens serial numbering works with some lenses. It is confusing isn't it :D Still as long as Solms maintain traceability records, should it worry us ? Best wishes Mike B
Paulus Posted March 2, 2013 Share #2937 Posted March 2, 2013 Interesting variation in MP serial numbers:- Post #2918 2 week-old black ALC = 3516593 Post #2808 my Jul 2012 chrome ALC = 3516573 Post #2919 (Paulus) new chrome ALC = 3976035 Post #2913 new black ALC = 4419503 Bemused... I looked in my old e-mails: I ordered the Leica MP Chrome al la Carte: May 10 - 2011 It arrived in the Netherlands, that's just 250 kilometers away from Solms, at Juni 28 -2011. So I think that batch was made in this period.
leicaoptik Posted March 2, 2013 Share #2938 Posted March 2, 2013 Now top view Hi, why are the numbers on the objective in the first picture red (like on black laquer ones) and in the second picture orange? Greetz, Philip
