Paulus Posted July 14, 2011 Share #2262 Posted July 14, 2011 Paulus, gorgeous looking MP! Cameraleather or a la carte? Photos like this make me want to place an order with cameraleather and redo the cover of my M7. A la Carte, the leather costed me only € 150,- extra, so I think it was worth it.

Rolo Posted July 14, 2011 Share #2264 Posted July 14, 2011 Yes, lovely camera. For some perverse reason, I'm quite taken with the orange Hermes covering. It cheers me up. Does anybody know where a similar skin can be found? I understand that the original is not available from Leica to non-Hermes owners, in spite of the money that's gone their way from my account. Rolo, I recall that forum member Chouhsin showed a picture of his Digilux 2 covered in a very similar orange leather so it may be available from Cameraleather or he may be able to let you know where he found it. Found the picture: it's post #78 Pete.
Bronco McBeast Posted July 14, 2011 Share #2266 Posted July 14, 2011 Cameraleather gives the lousiest service in the world. I have been waiting for mine 3 months now and I have absolutely no news from the owner despite numerous emails. Total insult. On a sidenote, I like the Orange covering, too. Bu11dog Posted July 15, 2011 Share #2269 Posted July 15, 2011 Hello All, I received my first MP chrome yesterday and wow it is so beautiful! One thing I did realize is when testing one second exposure, I can hear couple more Da Da Da sounds after the shutter already closed. I don't know if it is normal or not, I never hear this type of sound from my M3, M6 and M7. I checked with the dealer and he told me noise that I hear is the slow speed escapement 'relaxing'. This is normal for the mechanical cameras. Really? Is he right? Thanks.
imported_peter_m Posted July 15, 2011 Share #2270 Posted July 15, 2011 It is normal, love that sound Peter

Nick_S Posted July 19, 2011 Share #2274 Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) Hi I would appreciate any links to images of MP a la carte camera bodies with the angled rewind lever of the M4-M7, but with MP levers. I have seen the Ralph Gibson special edition, but I would be interested to see other examples (maybe without the burgundy leather!). Also, does any one know if it is possible to order an MP with M4-M7 wind-on and frame selector levers as a special request? Yes, it would be rather like an M6 :-) Nick Edited July 19, 2011 by Nick_S
farnz Posted July 19, 2011 Share #2275 Posted July 19, 2011 ... Also, does any one know if it is possible to order an MP with M4-M7 wind-on and frame selector levers as a special request? Nick, Yes it is. Use this link to Leica a la Carte to design an M7 or MP to what you want. You can choose MP or M7 winder, M7 angled or MP knurled post rewind, a selection of frame lines, a selection of coverings, Leica top deck script etc. I can't recall if a la Carte offers a choice of frame selection lever but if they don't it's a simple enough job to acquire a spare part and replace the one on the body. Nick_S Posted July 19, 2011 Share #2276 Posted July 19, 2011 Hi Pete Thanks, I've been playing with the a la carte Configurator, but the closest I could get was like the Ralph Gibson special with MP levers combined with angled rewind. A few more images of examples would clear up whether this works or whether it is just the ugly child of an MP and M6. I guess, as you suggest, a third party could swap the MP wind-on and frame selector levers to M4-M7 types. Nick
Guest l34tz Posted July 19, 2011 Share #2277 Posted July 19, 2011 I am wondering how a black chrome MP would look like. I haven't seen a single one in this thread, or did I just miss it?
menos I M6 Posted July 20, 2011 Share #2278 Posted July 20, 2011 I am wondering how a black chrome MP would look like. I haven't seen a single one in this thread, or did I just miss it? You missed it. There has been shown a nice, clean black chrome a la carte MP about 10 pages back.
