dr_sese Posted December 13, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted December 13, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am trying to set up the SL with the button customization settings. When using an SL lens in MF mode the magnified view options tied to the BL button seems very helpful. However, it is a pain to reach that button while holding the camera with the left hand operating the focus ring. As I could not find any option to move this function to another soft key I was wondering whether I missed anything regarding this in the manual. If that is not the case: How do you manage to make use of this function without a third hand? Thanks for your suggestions!

dancook Posted December 13, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted December 13, 2016 Pressing the joystick in zooms, and that's easily reached by the thumb, no?
dr_sese Posted December 13, 2016 Author Share #3 Â Posted December 13, 2016 Pressing the joystick with the 24-90 attached will just activate autofocus (even in MF mode). No zooming as described for the M lenses!

steppenw0lf Posted December 13, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted December 13, 2016 With a manual lens (adapted lens) the joystick is taking that role. And BL as well. With a SL lens (in AF mode or MF mode) only the BL will provide this function - toggling 6x and 10x zoom. Â The joystick setting for adapted lenses was introduced with a firmware level (I think it was 1.2). Before there was only BL. But for SL lenses the joystick is already in use, so it cannot be reassigned.
dr_sese Posted December 13, 2016 Author Share #6 Â Posted December 13, 2016 Thanks for answering. I really hope that Leica will allow reassigning the zoom function to a customizable key such als LV or FN for better handling in a future firmware. FlashGordonPhotography Posted December 13, 2016 Share #7 Â Posted December 13, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lots of us do. Â There's a thread on fw 3.0 wishes. This is mentioned early and often. Â You should consider sending a polite email to Leica as the only real way to get change is for many to make the same suggestion directly to Leica. Â I have a Novoflex adapter for EF lens to SL, are you able to get the Joy Stick to function as a zoom? Â Either in MF or AF mode it does not zoom in with any of my Otus lenses. Â Am I mistaken? JeffWright Posted December 27, 2016 Share #9  Posted December 27, 2016 I wonder if someone can help.  I have a Novoflex adapter for EF lens to SL, are you able to get the Joy Stick to function as a zoom?  Either in MF or AF mode it does not zoom in with any of my Otus lenses.  Am I mistaken?  Thanks for any Help   The camera assumes all EF mount lenses on the Novoflex adapter are autofocus, even manual focus lenses. Therefore the only way to get zoom is with the annoying BL button.
