JonVdG Posted December 13, 2016 Share #101 Posted December 13, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just to be irritating, I would add that in this situation I would use an M, not an SL ! I have to agree, seems like a 90mm would work well, or the 135mm Tele Elmar. However, if the SL system is otherwise treating you well, this is an issue that needs to be resolved. I've shot extensively with nearly every autofocus system made, often in demanding conditions, and each one has its issues. Learning the limitations of each is the only realistic solution, and one that requires time. If this particular AF system is getting in the way of your photography more often than not, and you can't find a suitable work-around, I strongly recommend developing a manual focus only workflow. In this case, view the AF as a little extra bonus feature that you can use from time to time. If you really need reliable, low light focus on a regular basis, get a newer Panasonic LUMIX G (GX8, etc.). Most reliable AF I have ever seen. Leica lenses adapt quite well for manual focus work too. Good luck, and please keep us posted.
Advertisement Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Hi JonVdG, Take a look here Leica SL terrible low light performance.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
orc999 Posted December 14, 2016 Share #102 Posted December 14, 2016 a title of this thread is, let's say, a bit misleading. If one lens in the system does not focus well in low light, I would not call a camera terrible in low light performance. Of course it is 1 out of two lenses, quite a high ratio, and by the time the other lenses come out the camera would probably due to be replaced. Anyway I would say the Leica SL is good in low light, and I would bring another lens along for such a situation usualy.
dancook Posted December 14, 2016 Author Share #103 Posted December 14, 2016 I had a good time with the 50mm 1.4 lux (m) tonight will be using that for my 'low light' needs - not particularly low light though when it's lit but it'll be a great lens for it none the less more stuff here http://www.danielcook.com/events/lakuta/ Lakuta by dancook1982, on Flickr Lakuta by dancook1982, on Flickr Lakuta by dancook1982, on Flickr Lakuta by dancook1982, on Flickr Lakuta by dancook1982, on Flickr Lakuta by dancook1982, on Flickr
