maddav Posted June 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I guess 2000 shutter releases is really not much for this camera?
Advertisement Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Hi maddav, Take a look here how many shots can a M8 shutter withstand before service?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted June 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 15, 2007 2000 is nothing. I'd be disappointed if I didn't get 100000 from it...
wlaidlaw Posted June 15, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2007 2000 is nothing. I'd be disappointed if I didn't get 100000 from it... At that rate it will last me 25 years - should see me out. Wilson
4season Posted June 15, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 15, 2007 2000 is nothing! I shot 3000 while on a 3-week vacation not long ago and that was still nothing.
ken_tanaka Posted June 15, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 15, 2007 I guess 2000 shutter releases is really not much for this camera? Actually, I've not seen Leica publish an expected life-cycle figure for the M8's shutter. My Canon 1 bodies are in the neighborhood of 200,000 clicks, I think my 5D is around 150,000. But these are not necessarily reliable standards since Canon's shutter technology is much more mature on these cameras than Leica's M8 shutter, which is the first of its kind. So at this time I think the only reliable answer is: it will work until it doesn't.
marknorton Posted June 16, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2007 Hopefully, Copal's experience in shutters will help, but from the Copal web-site, it does look like they produce a custom design for each application. I'm quite sure that Leica have done automated endurance testing to see what pops. Once a second, 86400 times a day...
