roverover Posted December 4, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've noticed on my M240 when shooting with Live View that after I shoot, when the LV returns, the Image on the View screen "expands" slightly once the camera resets for the next shot during the processing of the photo. I am curious what causes the compressed view initially, and then the "expansion" back to normal view? I am Shooting with DNG Compression OFF if that has any bearing. Advertisement Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Hi roverover, Take a look here Live View Screen, Technical Question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted December 4, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2016 When showing images on the rear screen the camera will show the small JPG embedded in the DNG initially for speed. As soon as the camera has processed the DNG to a point that it can be shown on the LCD it will replace the JPG. Sometimes you can see the clipping warning change. It was very visible on the M8/9, also with the black frame noise reduction processing.
roverover Posted December 4, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted December 4, 2016 Thank You for your reply. Just to be clear. When i press the shutter, the screen goes black briefly (normal). Then the image i took appears briefly (my preview is set to 5 sec), then the camera goes back to "live view". When the live TTL view returns, the view expands slightly to it's normal view.I don't often shoot using the live view, is the image the camera recorded being physically compressed, vs. what the lens is seeing, or does this effect vary by lens too?I'm trying to learn as much about my M as i can, so thank you any experienced answers.I thought a short video might explain what i am seeing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcwDfxdEXj4&feature=youtu.be
