I bring my camera on my regular walks in the local forrest which happens to be more than slightly physical due to our typical hilly terrain. Once I try to take a photo the viewfinder fogs up instantly - but that's not a huge problem compared to the sweat left in on the glass which naturally won't just evaporate. So I've tried the usual wiping procedure with the cuff of my shirt but it's just messy. So far a patch of duct tape seems to be the best solution but now it's getting colder and it will most likely not stick very well. Have anyone come up with a better solution or even better - is it possible to find some sort of cap which will fit? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Jeff Thanks Jeff That will likely solve the problem with fogging up and I'll have a go at it. Maybe the duct tape patch is the only available solution to avoid sweat on the glass? pico Posted December 1, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 1, 2016 Two suggestions. I am an enthusiast of micro-fiber cloths. I keep a small one in my pocket. It is amazing how well it takes everything off the surface. A better solution is an eye-cup for the viewfinder which creates some pliable space for your eye (or in my case eyeglasses). jmahto Posted December 1, 2016 Share #5 Posted December 1, 2016 Outside fog is not a problem since you can simply wipe it with anything without much worry. But sometimes the fog is inside and you can't wipe away. I had read an article sometime ago that Leica changed VF mounting construction at some point (before digital M) and it doesn't form a tight seal. This allows moisture to condense inside. That's not the problem when outside cold air meets close up breathing, which fogs the VF so one can't see the subject. I've found that the anti-fogging wipes prevent this in the first place. As far as Pico's comments, of course a micro-fibre cloth will wipe moisture away, but unlike with the wipes, the fogging will just return when the eyes/nose are against the camera. I also don't like eyecups; instead I buy flexible eyeglass frames that allow me to get super close the the VF, allowing full frame view without problem. My solution couldn't be simpler....one wipe keeps fog off glasses and VF for hours on end....breathe normally. It's almost a paradox that modern breathing clothes can cause problems with moisture/sweat collecting in the viewfinder window. First out is the microfiber cloth! I have been to many cold climes and have never experienced that! Furthermore, if the condensation is inside the VF, then you should have Leica look at your camera...
