ianman Posted November 28, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is a photograph I took earlier today. There is a band across exactly half of the width at the top left of the image. The previous photo was fine as was the next. I don't recall having seen this issue before. The sensor was changed last summer This band is present in both dng and jpeg. Thoughts ? Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted November 28, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 28, 2016 I didn't know the M9 did this as well; on the M8 it was rather common.
ianman Posted November 28, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted November 28, 2016 So is it something I should be worried about ? Do we know what causes this ?
pop Posted November 28, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2016 It only occurs if a very bright light falls on a number of pixel cells just outside of the image gate. Some cameras are more prone to this kind of problem than others. As Jaap said, it's practically unknown for the M9 while it was quite frequent with the M8. It appears that you just happened to position the sun in one of very few places where the M9 sensor doesn't like it to be.
pgk Posted December 6, 2016 Share #5 Posted December 6, 2016 As Jaap said, it's practically unknown for the M9 while it was quite frequent with the M8. I beg to differ. It really depends how/what you shoot. If you shoot into the light a lot you will almost certainly experience it every so often, even on an M9 I'm afraid. Easy enough to crop out, if a tad irritating. In that case, I stand corrected.
