Has to be good. Hi Chris, There are some dealers who will quietly slip you a new one for less than that... Both Jono and I have knocked a fair bit off... but then the dealer does it for goodwill because we both buy more glass than a windshield replacement company... ;-) Tim
marknorton Posted June 15, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2007 That shows the benefit of building a relationship with a local dealer; I took the different approach of saving on lenses by buying from HK and, with no local dealer leverage, paying full price on the bodies. I doubt that Classic Camera will give a discount, no matter how much you buy.

From my limited experience of Classic Camera, and what I have read here, you don't even get a smile out of Classic Camera until you have serious airmiles with them... :-CC t

As someone who bought from CC I'm beginning to feel a bit silly. It's just that it's the nearest to where I live in WC1 + it's next to York Camera who are really nice... But I get on ok with Ivor in CC...
chris_livsey Posted June 15, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 15, 2007 way dearer than LCE where i got minethey have them regularly for 2500 brand new (including vat), that is brand new i repeat, not ex-demo Is this the "unwanted gft" when you click on the descripion in S/H ? I am looking to buy after finally dismissing the 5D (just under 2K with lens- but a lump of plastic) or a Refurbished phase one for the Blad (6K). I have an M6 but only use the 35 'cron v4, so more glass needed as well. I have been offered 5% off "in stock" bodies locally but if the "gift" is new that's different. I have never dealt with LCE but reasoned that ex dem would be early batch stock which may not have had the minor build bugs that later production had fixed. Obviously Solms would not be over the moon with open discounting so soon but I could happily take on a "brand new" "unwanted gift" BTW I have been lurking for a while here to help the decision and really appreciate the tone here. What a great bunch you are. Grovel mode OFF.
jackal Posted June 15, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 15, 2007 I dont want to say too much. Just give them a call. I saved 500 pounds over a new one which is a worthy saving imo.
