Question. Been reading about the newer Macro Ring and 90mm Macro f/4 Elmar lens. Literature claims:

...The adapter is designed to be mounted between the camera and the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90 mm f/4.
Its integrated helical screw system allows a variable extension of the lens of between 18 and 30 mm
and thus enables the variation of the reproduction ratio. When mounted on the adapter, the Leica
Macro-Elmar-M 90 mm f/4 can also be used in its collapsed position for exposures up to infinity.

my Question is about using the Macro Ring with an APO-Summicron f/2 90mm Lens on a New M.

Would this set-up also focus to "infinity" when mounted together?

If anyone has experience using any 90mm lens with a Macro Ring this way, i'd appreciate hearing if it will focus to infinity when mounted?

Have setup in question. No, with everything mounted together you cannot focus infinity.

I was disappointed at first, but further research on the 90 f/4 lens + extension combo you lose rangefinder coupling. To me that's a non-starter since I rarely use the EVF and liveview on the LCD just seems awkward for me.

Thanks for the both replies!

So, will the Elmar Macro 90 f/4 actually focus to infinity when mounted to the M ring as stated then? This is more just a curiosity about the stated functionality.

I also do understand you can only focus using LV or EVF-2 with a macro ring.

No, it cannot focus to infinity by definition : any "normal" lens mounted onto an extension ring cannot anymore focus to infinity : the Macro Elmar 90 is an exception because , being retractable, its backward movement compensates for  the insertion of the extension ring.

OK. Thank you so much for the answer about the Elmar 90 too. I couldn't understand how that would function. All Good answers!
