M 50 APO on SL?

It is good enough for the Noctilux and for the 135. Both have much thinner DoF than the apo50. Optically it does nothing, so cannot deteriorate IQ.

Look at the many examples to make sure, if you cannot believe it.

Actually most critical is the precision of the adapter ring for wideangles used at infinity.

Yes with one small addendum.

 

The adaptor is slightly thicker (fraction of a mm) than it needs to be in order to allow all lenses to reach infinity even if they are slightly miscalibrated.

 

That means that it's possible that you can focus slightly past infinity. So you might not be able to rely on the lens hard stop for infinity focus.

 

This has no impact on optical performance at all.

I think Gordon meant to write "thinner".

 

There are, of course, other properties of an adapter than the thickness which determine how useful it is. It must hold the lens in the center of and parallel to the mount. I don't know if anyone has bothered to measure those, though.
