Zig Posted November 13, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I am new to the forum and I am a complete novice with this camera (Leica V-Lux 3). It doesn't take much to get beautiful pictures. I am wanting to take pictures of the full moon, no problem if I'm just shooting the moon in the dark but it does appear to be a problem if I want to shoot through the trees for beautiful foreground effect or with clouds. At what setting(s) can I get the best picture of the moon with or without clouds at night or early evening at dark or with just a bit of daylight without my viewfinder going black (except the moon) and missing everything in the foreground I would like to include, is there a simple setting to do that? Thank you! I have the manual but nothing so far seems to help. As mentioned, I am a total beginner, the camera was a gift. Thank you!

Zig Posted November 13, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted November 13, 2016 Thanks dkCambrideshire, I will certainly be looking at these links today. Hoping it's not too complicated and can be done with my specific camera. All fairly easy tips are much appreciated! Zig
dkCambridgeshire Posted November 13, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2016 Full moon photography is not difficult … see the third link … Best to turn off the image stabilisation, mount the camera on a tripod, and use the self timer. Use the long 600mm end of the zoom lens to obtain the largest moon image. dunk
stuny Posted November 13, 2016 Share #5 Posted November 13, 2016 Also set the meter to spot reading and read the moon in the metered area - Otherwise you'll get just a featureless, white circle.
