"Dedicated" controls make sense for basic photographic parameters, IMHO. Like exposure time, ISO, lens aperture and (maybe) exposure compensation. You can change that quickly and you can see the current set values. Fine.

But it does not make any sense for "digital" control, this is, for menus, seeing pictures or zooming in and out. We have touch sensitive screens since 10 years or more. Why dedicated buttons for "play", "delete", "set", etc. It's just outdated and it introduces complexity and ilogical layering for functions and interfaces.

The digital Ms have bad interfaces. They didn't have direct (dedicated) controls for basic photographic parameters (ISO, exposure compensation), but they had for typical menu options... what a mess!!!

Even the (far more elegant and flexible) interface of the SL and S shows this problem as well.

The best interface in any Leica camera, is that of the TL.

Unless there's something very surprising about the sensor, this is just an update and not really a new model. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but not quite what I'm hoping for.

But since we can't see what's inside it, I'll have to be patient for a little while longer before making any judgements...In the meantime, my ignorance is a great comfort to me; it means I can imagine all sorts of nice surprises.

Could not agree more. And that's why the T/TL is a keeper.

M11 please have larger screen instead of buttons on the back...

Less is more is less is more seems to be the current refrain on the forum

Well given the M10 designation, I'm hoping that its an M9 with some of the superfluous controls got rid of. I don't need that A thingy on the shutter dial, never use the Delete or ISO buttons. Don't use the usb port nor the C setting on the on/off switch. So I'd be happy with a trimmed down M9 myself. Suspect I'm in the minority who don't like gadgets though :D .

3 dedicated buttons a vast array doesn't make.

I was responding more to your comment than to any of the leaks. In any case, I don't have a TL, but the S's configuration makes a lot of sense (with an added touch screen). You'd think that Leica would have incorporated some of the S or TL elements into the back. If this is the M10, like Rosuna says, the interface appears inelegant. Reminds me of my old M9. Loved the camera, but wasn't fond of the back interface at all.

Hope the "T" setting is kept on the shutter button.  Always liked that for tripod work.

Talking of which the removable base plate on the M8 ( and M9) was good to change batteries, still keeping the camera on the tripod...can't do that with the M240.

In general I don't mind the removable base plate.  It's either that or a big door somewhere.

The 240's focus-button-thumbie magnification is beaut...auto if you wish. Never understood why people needed a "bumper".

The ISO wheel is of no interest...I tend to shoot at base ISO all the time anyway.

These are things I'd like to see kept on the new M.  But as said before, unless its a new sensor with remarkable properties, then the new camera will just be more of the same really.

all best...

Tend to agree - Had the SL - coped with the buttons, but never really saw the point.  Very happy with the look of this - and how good to have essential controls that are easy to use with gloves on.  In real-world conditions I often need to use gloves while doing landscape and documentary work.  I don't want a touch screen or tiny buttons that mean I get frozen hands in order to operate them.

This looks good to me - as does the wheel for ISO.  Could this actually be a camera for people who take photos?

I don't like drive mode in the menu. Too easy to leave it to delay timer after tripod/selfie work and then press the shutter during decisive moment and wait for the shutter to fire while decisive moment passes away in front of your eyes.

Been there done that. I like my M240's mechanical switch to delay mode. Easy to see, easy to touch and just enough extra friction to not put in delay mode. Perfect.

Edit: On the other hand, the drive mode could be saved in the profile and I can switch profile between tripod/selfie and regular mode. Can I?

Keith, I sooooo want to believe you on the scrollable focus point :)  Nothing against the SL, but that gets me into "good enough" territory with the M and the SL can be sold.

The moveable focus point on the SL is great - but it's really irritating that when you press the zoom button . . . it zooms into the middle, and not to the moveable focus point
