jgladwell Posted June 14, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted June 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) This past Monday my D2 was finally returned, after an extended stay at the Leica service department in New Jersey to have the sensor replaced. Â The first thing I noticed was that the black textured material on the front, right-hand side (below the red Leica logo) looks like it has a fine, white powdery substance all over it. That was not there when I sent them the camera. Â I took a Q-tip dampened with distilled water and tried to clean it off. While it was wet, it looked fine. However, when it dried it was still there. Â So here's my question: Is there anything out there that I can use to clean this off and "dress" the black textured material (rubber?) without damaging it? Â Thanks! ron110n Posted June 14, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted June 14, 2007 Start with your lens cleaning solution on kimwipe or micro fiber cloth. Â -Ron
pekem Posted June 14, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted June 14, 2007 Surely the right people to ask at the outset is Leica service department in New Jersey. Or perhaps you have done that and drawn a blank. Certainly if you believe that it has happened in Leica's care you should inform them. It may well be something that they recognise and are prepared to put their hands up for.
