It is considered an admirable area, and generally has nothing to do with sex, though prior to the early 1950s a mike's virginity would be auctioned off to help pay for her training, room, board and costumes. A good geisha can earn a lot of money and keep at it for several decades. Their studies include dance, musical instruments, singing, art of conversation, manners makeup, has and clothing.
